So my sis quickly nudged me and said it with her eyes first mouth second, "pan mee???"
I couldn't resist the offer. Pan mee sounds good on any day. I was already calculating the number of choices I have to choose from. Chilli pan mee or not chilli pan mee. If chilli pan mee, where, where where? Should we do Face to Face or JoJo's? If not chilli pan mee, would it be Aman Suria Chilli Pan Mee (I know it's called Chilli Pan Mee but the best pan mee there is not the chilli one) or the Paramount Loh Pan Mee?
It's one of the toughest, happiest decision I have to make! So no complains there :D
But when mum spoils our hopes and dreams by saying NO CHILLI PAN MEE, it felt like a tear to a brand new jeans! She just cut half of our buffet table away!
BUT nevermind... we must learn to accept and adapt and that's what we did..we decided on JUST PAN MEE :D!!
BUT mum said "NO I DON'T WANT TO EAT PAN MEE at all", our lips just went thin. My head even felt a little wobbly *no joke*. I take pan mee really very seriously. If there were a million things I was uncertain about, pan mee (and taxes) wouldn't be one of them.
But what can we do?? She's the one with the money. She's the one with the power. Needless to say, we followed her demands despite our buffet table being stowed away from our vivid dreams. It was a nightmare night-reality real-mare #!@$!%!
BUT nevertheless, accept and adapt *ahmitabha*
So we decided on Chow Yang in the end (for those who don't know, this place sells the best ham zhi peng :P). It wasn't a tough choice but it wasn't a happy one either. We reached the spot and we found a place to sit. I wandered around the coffee shop trying to make myself feel better by staring at the western food menu but the vision of my fat tummy wouldn't let me indulge for long.
I quickly look away before my heart oversteps my logical senses and just told my mum straight "I'll just take the char kuey teow lah" and as fast as I could, I put a distance between me and my comfort food.
Something you probably should know about me. I have always been intrigued to know people's order :) :) :). Always wondering if they have ordered better than me or different from me.
So when I got back to the table, everyone was already seated. I didn't bother to ask my sis what she ordered because it was going to be chicken rice for sure... so despite being emotionally disappointed with my mum I asked her what she was having instead...
BUT GUESS WHAT?
She said, "oh I'm not eating."
